Masterson’s Lounge, positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I experienced behind its walls was disturbing and far below any standard .

The floors were sticky , and a pungent odor of stale beer and uncleaned toilets filled the entire bar . With a smell of a mixture of excrement , decay and a sickly smell. The serving zone , which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and trash that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The restroom was in even a more revolting state — clogged , with a broken handle and tiles smeared in what I can only assume was human excrement .
